A traditional old-time fiddle tune with probable Norwegian roots, documented through the playing of Norwegian-American fiddlers in Minnesota. The tune was learned and preserved by fiddler Al Sanderson from Minnesota, who later moved to Washington State, and was also played by Ed Selvaag, a Norwegian Minnesotan fiddler. Phil Nusbaum made home recordings of the tune in the 1970s while researching Norwegian Minnesotan fiddlers. The waltz reflects the strong Scandinavian musical heritage in Minnesota and has been adopted by the Minnesota fiddle community as part of their traditional repertoire.
