Tune

Barney O’Hea

G majorIrish

Samuel Lover’s comic courtship song, in which Kitty warns off the impudent Barney O’Hea while plainly intending to be caught; it circulated on nineteenth-century broadsides and in sheet music editions through the 1860s. Documentation of the tune outside song collections is thin compared to Lover’s bigger hits.
