Blue Ridge Cabin Home

B♭ majorSongBluegrass

Blue Ridge Cabin Home is a bluegrass song in B♭ major (though frequently played in A or D at jams), composed by Louise Certain and Gladys Stacey. The tune was first recorded by Flatt & Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys and released on their 1957 album Foggy Mountain Jamboree. The song’s straightforward chord progression and singable melody have made it a regular at bluegrass jams. Notable recordings include the Bluegrass Album Band’s 1981 version featuring Bobby Hicks on fiddle, Tony Rice on guitar, J.D. Crowe on banjo, Doyle Lawson on mandolin, and Todd Phillips on bass. The Osborne Brothers also recorded a well-known version.
