A traditional Old Time breakdown in G major, played in standard tuning, in the repertoire of Clyde Davenport of Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky, who learned it from his father Will Davenport. Field Recorders’ Collective liner notes describe it as one of Will Davenport’s old “listening” (rather than dance) tunes, with swooping cadences that resemble “The Lost Girl.” Jeff Titon’s Old-Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes identifies it as one of a set of rare local tunes that may survive only in Clyde Davenport’s versions. Davenport’s recordings appear on Field Recorders’ Collective FRC103 and FRC104.
