Memory Of You

G majorSongBluegrass

A bluegrass song credited to M. Christian (Silverhill Music), first recorded by Jim & Jesse at the Capitol session of March 16, 1953 in Nashville and released as the B-side of “Too Many Tears.” The lyric is a grief song addressed to a lost lover, opening with the narrator entering an empty room and realizing death has come too soon. The Jim & Jesse cut was one of their earliest bluegrass recordings, made while Jesse McReynolds was on Army leave during the Korean War. The song has remained associated almost entirely with Jim & Jesse’s recording and appears in their later compilations including The Jim & Jesse Story.
