A traditional Blue Ridge fiddle tune originally recorded by Dad Blackard’s Moonshiners (also called the Shelor Family band) for Victor Records in Bristol, Tennessee in August 1927. Also known as “Stoney Ridge Stomp” and “Tugboat and Pineywoods.” The title may refer to a steamboat name. Henry Reed played this tune but gave it no name. The tune has regional popularity in Patrick, Franklin and Floyd Counties of Virginia and extends into West Virginia.
