A traditional Old Time breakdown in G major, documented from Doc Roberts (1897–1978) of Madison County, Kentucky, who recorded it for Gennett in 1927 (Gennett 6257 or 13042) and attributed his version (learned from his brother Liebert) to African-American fiddler Owen Walker. Jeff Jeff Titon’s Old-Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes finds that five fiddlers played it at the 1919 and 1920 Berea fiddle contests, making it one of the most contested tunes at those events. It is a Kentucky/American version of the Irish reel “Over the Moor to Maggie (2).”
